Tim Tebow says he is pausing his relationship with Life Surge following an investigation by Pablo Torre Finds Out and Mother Jones that raised questions about the company’s sales practices and Tebow’s role as one of its prominent speakers.
Tebow addressed the controversy Friday, saying the allegations are “extremely, extremely serious” and that his team will conduct its own investigation.
“For us, we’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship till we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more,” Tebow said, according to reporters covering him in Gainesville, Florida.
The announcement came one day after Pablo Torre and Mother Jones published their investigation into Life Surge, a Christian-focused company that hosts events featuring celebrity speakers and promotes financial education programs.
Torre reported that Tebow had appeared at Life Surge events more than 20 times during 2026 and was paid between $50,000 and $100,000 per appearance, according to reporting cited by Yahoo Sports.
What the Investigation Alleged
The investigation examined complaints from former Life Surge customers and employees who described what they characterized as aggressive sales tactics surrounding the company’s higher-priced educational programs.
According to the reporting, attendees could initially purchase relatively inexpensive tickets to Life Surge events before being presented with opportunities to purchase additional financial education and mentorship programs costing substantially more.
The investigation also cited allegations that some attendees were encouraged to use credit cards, home equity or retirement funds to finance the programs.
Life Surge has disputed the central allegations. Company spokesperson Richard Lorenzen said the organization does not train representatives to pressure customers into taking on unaffordable debt and said its products carry risk.
Tebow Says He Was Caught Off Guard
Tebow also said he was caught off guard by some of the allegations and that he wants to better understand the facts before determining what comes next.
His decision to pause the relationship does not itself establish wrongdoing by Tebow or Life Surge. The allegations remain allegations, and Life Surge has disputed the characterization of its business practices.
Torre also said Friday that his team’s previous request for comment from Tebow remains open. Tebow did not provide answers to the detailed questions before the investigation was published.
